It’s important to set realistic expectations of the process before I begin working with my clients. I have outlined the process here to help you get a clear understanding of how I work.

Exterior Color Consultation

The first onsite consultation is about meeting you and hearing what colors you like or dislike, seeing the building, getting a clear understanding of its architectural aspects and taking pictures of the building for reference and color placement designs. During this first meeting I will start the process of suggesting at least one color group. In some cases this is just 3 – colors, base, trim and accent – in other cases there could be more colors depending on the architectural aspects of the building. I recommend providing at least two groups to choose from that are from different color families. Once these two groups are given the OK, larger samples of these colors need to be painted on the house in a few areas so you can see them as the light hits the house during different times of the day. Some clients have their painters paint the colors or do this step themselves. Once these samples are up you can see which group you prefer. Then there is a second onsite to discuss which colors will be the final colors or make any changes. Once the final colors are chosen I then provide the final color names, numbers, sheens and paint type.

Average time: 7-10 hours

Clients have said they feel relieved and excited about the colors now, it was a fun experience, they would never have known how to pick these colors and they love them.

Designing where to place the colors is just as important as picking colors. It can make a big difference in enhancing and bringing out the best qualities of your home. Houses have a lot of details that people do not realize until they really look at them. One of the most valuable services I provide is color placement designs, which provide a detailed map of where all the final colors go and the finishes. This helps greatly with the painting process and can avoid costly mistakes and misunderstandings between you and your painters. These are not pictures of what the house will look like once painted but are instructions on what color goes where to provide the best look for your home. If there are three colors on a house there could be 15-20 pages of thoughtfully laid out color placement designs.This follows a third on site meeting to review and clarify these designs with the you.

Interior Color Consultation

The first onsite meeting is about meeting you and hearing what colors you like or dislike, seeing your space furnishings and getting a feel for your interior design and color taste. Sometimes clients do not have their spaces furnished yet and providing samples of interiors you like and types of furniture you will be adding is helpful. I usually start by suggesting a ceiling color, then a color for the moldings and trims that go throughout the space, then entry and hallways which connect all rooms, and last but not least the room colors. I take pictures of the space for my reference and for color placement designs if required which show where the colors go and their sheens per room. I have larger color samples for you to look at during our meeting and can have larger samples sent to your home usually within 2-5 business days. In most cases buying quarts of different color paint samples is not necessary for interiors unless you have time constraints and cannot wait for the larger color swatches to be sent to you. Once you receive your color swatches I recommend you tape them to the walls in the rooms and check them out in the different lighting to make sure you like the colors. If a new color is needed we can schedule a second on site meeting or sometimes this process can be done via phone, emails and text. Once the colors are finalized I then provide the final color names, numbers, paint type, and sheens.
